Twitter

I signed up for Twitter some time ago. I have 8 followers. A couple are parents from school that just happened to find me on Twitter. One is my cousin and another is Gayle Brooks. During this exercise I learned about hash tags and I began following more Tweeters. I am now following Lynette Nixon and I follow Dino, too. I am not sure Twitter is something I can get into on a consistent basis. I can see its value but not for my present life and teaching situation. If I had a business or a product I sold I could see using Twitter as a marketing tool. I watched a video about a man that made custom pens that were carved out of exotic wood. He Twittered about his latest designs and finished products. His customers followed him on Twitter so they could learn about his latest products. I am following some jewelry makers that use Twitter to lead buyers to their selling sites. That's how I would use Twitter.

I think it's interesting that some parents are following you on Twitter. It opens up the topic of faculty/staff professional lives versus personal lives and what we put out into the cybersphere. Interesting indeed.

I think this project will heighten interest in Twitter - at least for a little while.
