Thing 18 Contributing to a Wiki
I started a new wiki on wikispaces. I wanted to try a new site-I usually use pbwiki. I am not sure exactly what I am going to do with it. My intension is to showcase the progress of my 3 first grade students on the wiki. I set up a page for each child. At first I put their first and last names on the pages but thought better of it and went back in and renamed the pages with first names only. Nothing is posted there yet-but it's all set to go. I also played in the sand box by adding my favorite vacation spot, movies TV shows and restaurants. I checked out the ASH entry on Wikipedia and saw that the grade levels had been changed already, so I added my name to the sidebar as Learning Specialist. It looks good!

What are you hoping to do with the 3rd graders wiki?
It's the 1st graders that I made the wiki for. I was thinking maybe I could imbed an audio file or video file that shows how they read out loud. I also thought I could have them create very neatly written letters or words and scan them into a document that is featured on the wiki. I know that these ideas are not very collaborative. I'd be using the wiki as a storage device. Another idea I just had was to store some links to each child’s favorite internet sites that help them practice skills. Do you have any ideas?
